Alfred - The Shire Horse

Alfred is a 4-year-old registered Shire horse currently in training to be a fully-fledged member of the Wild Arborist Horse Logging Team. Alfred is kind, curious, intelligent and unbelievably strong! Like most Shire horses, he descends from the traditional working horses synonymous with pre-industrialised agriculture. Being an endangered breed, Alfred is doing his bit to show how amazing he and his fellow Shires are, in the hopes that more people may consider owning, riding or working a shire themselves. When not in training, Alf enjoys flirting with his girlfriends Poppy and Sassy, eating bananas and stud muffins and exploring the local area with Toby.

HSE Compliance, Environmental Impact & Insurance

Safety and efficiency are at the core of every job, as well as minimising negative impact on the environment. Prior to any work commencing, Toby undertakes a full site risk assessment, method statement and wildlife check to prevent potential harm to nesting birds and habitats.

Waste is disposed of responsibly at registered green waste sites. To reduce emissions, noise pollution and the resulting effect on local wildlife, Toby operates electric tools wherever possible. For your peace of mind, Wild Arborist holds Public Liability Insurance to £10m and Employer’s Liability Insurance to £10m.

All work is carried out to BS3998:2010 Tree Work Recommendations.

Additionally, Toby undertakes continued CPD to ensure he is operating to the latest professional techniques and standards.
